Abstract
My research paper is about the reasoning tar enamours from wring Stiggins book An Introduction to Student Involved appraisal FOR Learning. Reasoning is how we use knowledge to solve problems. I lead define the seven different reasoning targets and give examples of how I use these targets when teaching my students. With the support of separate sources I allow show my ground of reasoning and the importance it has to me and my students.














Patterns of Reasoning in the Classroom

It is my understanding that reasoning is defined as a counselling of thinking or how we use knowledge to solve problems. Reasoning or use of knowledge for problem solving is a necessary skill in all of our lives. Rick Stiggins states in Student-Involved Assessment FOR Learning(2008) that knowing something is not the same as understanding it (Stiggins 2008 p.



52) while knowledge of content must still be provided to students this alone will not provide the students the necessary skills. Students deprivation to know how to use this knowledge and understanding in post to reason or externalize things out (p. 55). To have students overtop content merely for the sake of knowing it and for no other reason is a complete waste of their time (p. 55).
As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide instruction that provides different patterns of reasoning. I loss my students to be able to use their knowledge and understanding to reason, to figure things out, and to solve different kinds of problems. Patterns of reasoning that are needed to grow successful thinkers are analytical reasoning, synthesizing, comparative reasoning, classifying, inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning and evaluative reasoning.
