As childrens bodies physically grow during life, so do their minds. Different issues arise and new ideas surface which children and young adults, umteen times, have a tough time understanding. Children often erupt a friend or a hero in order to assist them through many of lifes perils. These imaginary friends are individuals that children can relate to, find potency in, and turn to without feeling judged. Though as children age their imaginary friends become things of their past, many young adults continue to find auxiliary and mentoring characters in novels, on television programs, and on professional playing period teams; the possibilities are endless.
Holden Caulfield is his name, and he is the main character in J.D. Salingers The Catcher in the Rye. My 9th grade English teacher assign this novel on the summer reading list for launching freshmen. I had already heard rumors that this was a great hightail it of literature, but I would have never imagined the impact that this keep would have on me. As soon as I started reading, the novel grabbed my attention because I realized the importance of equity as a result of Holdens high bear on for honesty. In the novel, the main character views nigh of the adults surrounding him as phonies, and he is not pleased with their lack of authenticity.



He views most of the world as fake and does not have humanity for people who live superficial and fictitious lives. Holden does, however, realize the purity associated with childhood and believes that the transformation from a genuine person to a shallow person happens as children enter adulthood. As a result, Holden fears for the youth who will soon be stripped of their ingenuousness in adulthood. Consequently, he earns his title, The Catcher in the Rye, since he tries to save children from entering adulthood (catching them) where they play (in the rye) before they downslope off the cliff and into adulthood. Holden believes that their innocence will be illogical otherwise.
