Verizon and the CWA
In this paper I exit discuss Verizon and its affiliation with the Communication Workers of America (CWA) union. I leave behind begin by providing a brief description of the party. I will discuss the legal issues that Verizon could encounter in its day-by-day operations including the specific laws that could be humble due to these issues. I will end by discussing Verizons involvement in the CWA and the benefits and in general operations of all unions.
According to Verizon, the comp either was formed by the merger Bell Atlantic tidy sum and GTE Corporation on June 30, 2000 (¶ 1). The name Verizon comes from the Latin word veritas, convey certainty and reliability and the word horizon, signifying forward-looking (¶ 2). Like any other organization, there are voltage legal issues that Verizon could face in its day-to-day operations. Fair sedulousness and equal opportunity employment laws always have a potential of being violated. Although Verizon has a diverse workforce, it could face charges of inconsistency just like any other company.
The laws that could be broken include but are not limited to the sequence Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the adapted Pay Act of 1963, and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978.
If any employment laws are broken, Verizon could be sued by the employee whose rights are violated. In order to avoid litigation, Verizon should create and adhere to strict anti-discrimination policies. The company should keep up to escort with changes made to those laws as rise up as all other federal, state, and local laws regarding employment.
