Introduction
A professor and big(a) anthropologist for the anthropology community, Marshall Davis Sahlins was born on December 27, 1930 in lucre Illinois. Sahlins, now a professor at the University of Chicago and is immediately the Distinguished Service Professor of Anthropology Emeritus, focused most of his work on how culture shapes pile perceptions and actions and how the culture of power is what drives and motivates people and it is not the biological needs of the human nature that makes us do so. His main works concentrated on the discerning man idea and he tries and puts to rest the belief of cultures that drag in an economic standpoint in different ways ar adapting to specific or particular circumstances.
Sahlins would later on labour on score and anthropology and focuses most of his later works on the relationship between these dickens argonas of study, in how they make history and their understanding of it. He decided to put these cultures under two categories: general phylogeny and specific evolution. Essentially general evolution is the evolution of a culture and how that culture changes to develop a complex and organized hearty system in an dynamical environment to be able to adapt to it.
While as specific evolution are the ways in which these cultures are introduced to these different stages and how they use them. He chooses to study the islands off in the Pacific, focusing mostly on Fiji and Hawaii.
