The first three key points from our readings that I go forth reason are from David Kinsleys book, Ecology and Religion and the fourth lead be from Vintage Lopez. Thirdly, I will evaluate Gary Snyder and his views on mutuality, followed lastly by Barry Lopez and his thoughts on the consort between culture and temperament.
John Muir described himself as a, poetic-trampo-geologist-bot. and ornith- intrinsicist (Kinsley 148). He had an extreme love for nature and believed that the anthropocentric and nature tyrannic views of Christianity were a huge detriment to the planet. Therefore, he lived his life in nature and believed that, the wilderness was steeped in God, while civilization was bare(a) of the divine (Kinsley 151). Muir found that he felt closest to theological system while in the most primitive of settings, where the land was uninfluenced by the ills of civilization, which he thought was, painful and crippling (Kinsley 150) to humanity. Muirs views on how the wilderness can pick and rejuvenate the soul and well being of humanity is reclaimable in our society in this ecological crisis; if we looked at nature as something including our God, instead of something our God has given us to dominate, our lives would be far in sync with the pictorial aspects of our planet, and therefore pretend less of an ill effect on us and the natural world around us.
Matthew Fox, like Muir, believed that Christianity disconnected people from the natural world and from one a nonher, what he called Newtonian piecemealness (Kinsley 167).
