The researchers of the Stanford Prison Experiment made current that each participant experiences his social role by having them plant accordingly; a prisoner wore smocks with the identification number on them, each prisoner had a heavy chain bolted to their foot, and were further allowed to wear rubber sandals. The guards wore matching uniforms and sunglasses to remain unknown and carried billyclubs and wore whistles around their necks.
