How do you view the story of the American West? How do you see it in defeat culture today? What feelings ar conjured up when we hark back around the story of the west today?
When I begin to mobilize of the epic story of the American West, I dont usually think of the positive things that catch come from it. Throughout my life, I have constantly been very aware of our actions to the Native American tribes; the killings, the betrayals, and the utter(a) destruction and genocide of the Native population. Growing up, I was always the kid who was negative about America, and I tended to focus on the bad stuff that happened. Now, as we go even to a greater extent indepth of our cultures past, specifically the American West, I am disgusted to tell the least, at how the public views our past and idolizes it, and how very brainwashed we are into thinking exactly that way. For example, we are looked upon as the country of freedom, democracy, and peace, up to now when we look in our past we see exactly the enemy of that. We see forceful oppression, slavery, and even genocide.
Technically, we were as bad as Germany, when Hitler was ruling, the plentifulgest difference being that we didnt take our country out of debt or restore our economy like Hitler did. Now, Im not a big fan of Hitler, but we must admit that he all told turned around Germany from a war ravaged and heavy indebt country to one of the strongest military forces ever conceived, and with a permanent economy. Now, back to the original question, I view the story of the American West as a story of betrayal and deceit, that became idolize for its false views that the media portrayed. I dont think Clint Eastwood when I think cowboy, I think murderer, rapist, and thief.
