1. The Joke is ab appear a frustrated man who finds himself in a marriage that over time has become aught. She does not label him, takes him for granted and he could n ever so condone what is malign without sounding mean or stingy. He is always in that respect for her, her mother, her sister and her friends, when they need help, but otherwise he is the imperceptible man. They are not talking to each other she negotiation to every ace else but him. For eight hours they havent exchanged one ord. That is the main thing in this marriage and has been for a unyielding time. He tone of voices that it doesnt matter what he is or isnt doing. She does not pay him any attention. He fatalitys to reach out for her in bed, but he cant do it. That is another thing they do not talk more or less along with the change, the stop, the marriage. The change had not occurred from some big thing, nothing had happened between them. He should have known it was there for a long time, the difference, the silence, but nothing big. He was by himself. She was somewhere else. There was no togetherness in it.

2. A characterization of the main character:
The main character is a man who has been with the same women for twenty-six years. He still has most of his hair, though he is an older man. He likes football.



He believes that this woman, his wife would not notice or care if he left her. This annoys him and he gets angry, and feels pudden-head when she do not talk to him. They have no communication and he is sick of it. This is just one of many things that makes him feel invisible and taken for granted. He can never explain what his problem with her and their relationship is without sounding mean or selfish which he does not see himself as. He once felt a bit heroic when helping her friend, but errands of mercy, has he been doing for years. And he seems hurt over the fact that none of them ever phone and ask to speak to him.
